Highlights from this month’s report include:
- Global passenger-related emissions in August 2024 were 72m tonnes
- Emissions year to date are 525m tonnes, 22m tonnes below the same period in 2019
- 9 of the 25 largest markets for emissions were up compared to August 2019 with Greece, Türkiye and Qatar showing the highest growth rates
Spotlight on United Kingdom
- Passenger-related emissions from airports in United Kingdom were 3.04m tonnes in August 2024, 6% below 2019 levels
- United Kingdom is the 3rd largest country for emissions in August 2024, 86% of these emissions are covered by a compliance programme
- TUI Airways had the lowest emissions per ASK out of the 10 largest airlines for emissions over the last 12 months
- Out of the 10 largest airports for emissions over the last 12 months, airline operations from London Luton Airport had the lowest emissions per ASK
