Highlights from this month’s report include:
- Global passenger-related emissions in December 2024 were 66m tonnes
- 8 of the 25 largest markets for emissions were up in December 2024 compared to December 2019 with Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Spain showing the highest growth rates
- Emissions January to December 2024 were 789m tonnes, 31m tonnes below 2019 levels
Spotlight on Spain
- Passenger-related emissions from airports in Spain were 1.6m tonnes in December 2024, 12% above 2019 levels
- Spain is the 8th largest country for emissions in December 2024
- Iberia Express had the lowest emissions per ASK out of the 10 largest airlines for emissions over the last 12 months
- When looking at emissions by airport over the last 12 months, airline operations from Tenerife South Airport had the lowest emissions per ASK
