Highlights from this month’s report include
- Global passenger-related emissions in January 2025 were 66m tonnes
- 17 of the 25 largest markets for emissions are still below January 2019 levels, with Hong Kong and Germany showing the largest % decreases
- 5 of the 25 largest markets do not have any compliance programme in place for aviation emissions
Spotlight on Brazil
- Passenger-related emissions from airports in Brazil were 1.4m tonnes in January 2025, -4% below 2019 levels
- Brazil is the 10th largest country for emissions in January 2025
- TAP Air Portugal had the lowest emissions per ASK out of the 10 largest airlines for emissions over the last 12 months
- When looking at emissions by airport over the last 12 months, airline operations from Recife - Guararapes International Airport had the lowest emissions per ASK
