Welcome to RDC’s Aviation Emissions Report for November 2024, looking at global passenger related aviation emissions with a focus on the 25 largest markets by total emissions.

Highlights from this month’s report include:

  • Global passenger-related emissions in November 2024 were 62m tonnes
  • Emissions year to date are 723m tonnes, 29m tonnes below the same period in 2019
  • 7 of the 25 largest markets for emissions were up in November 2024 compared to November 2019 with Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Spain showing the highest growth rates

Spotlight on Australia

  • Passenger-related emissions from airports in Australia were 1.6m tonnes in November 2024, -4% below 2019 levels
  • Australia is the 7th largest country for emissions in November 2024
  • Jetstar Airways had the lowest emissions per ASK out of the 10 largest airlines for emissions over the last 12 months
  • When looking at emissions by airport over the last 12 months, airline operations from Cairns Airport had the lowest emissions per ASK
