Highlights from this month’s report include:
- Global passenger-related emissions in October 2024 were 67m tonnes
- Emissions year to date are 661m tonnes, 27m tonnes below the same period in 2019
- 9 of the 25 largest markets for emissions were up compared to October 2019 with Saudi Arabia and Turkey showing the highest growth rates at 21% and 20% respectively
Spotlight on Ireland
- Passenger-related emissions from airports in Ireland were 268k tonnes in October 2024, 4% above 2019 levels
- Ireland is the 39th largest country for emissions in October 2024
- The 2 largest airlines for emissions Aer Lingus and Ryanair account for 61% emissions over the last 12 months
- When looking at emissions by airport over the last 12 months, airline operations from Shannon Airport had the lowest emissions per ASK
