Welcome to RDC’s Aviation Emissions Report for April 2025, looking at global passenger related aviation emissions with a focus on the 25 largest markets by total emissions.

After looking at Denmark in our March 2025 aviation emissions report, this month we cross the Baltic Sea to take a look at neighbouring Sweden as our focus country.

Highlights from this month’s report include:

  • Global passenger-related emissions in April 2025 were 67m tonnes
  • 15 of the 25 largest markets for emissions are still below April 2019 levels with Hong Kong showing the largest % decrease at -31%
  • Conversely Türkiye saw the highest growth with aviation emissions in April 2025 growing by +34% when compared to April 2019 levels
  • Overall global aviation emissions January to April 2025 were 258m tonnes, 2m tonnes below January to April 2019 levels.

Spotlight on Sweden

  • Passenger-related emissions from airports in Sweden were 0.15m tonnes in April 2025, -36% below 2019 levels
  • Sweden ranked 52nd largest country for emissions in April 2025
  • TUIfly Nordic had the lowest emissions per ASK out of the 10 largest airlines for emissions over the last 12 months
  • When looking at emissions by airport over the last 12 months, airline operations from Stockholm - Skavsta Airport had the lowest emissions per ASK
