Highlights from this month’s report include:

  • Global passenger-related aviation emissions in January 2026 were 67m tonnes
  • 62% (42m tonnes) of these emissions were not covered by an emissions compliance programme
  • 12 out of the 25 largest markets for passenger-related aviation emissions had emissions below January 2019 levels in January 2026

Spotlight on United Kingdom

  • Passenger-related emissions from airports in United Kingdom were 2.4m tonnes in January 2026, -8% below January 2019 levels and +1% against January 2025
  • United Kingdom ranked 3rd largest country for emissions in January 2026
  • Out of the 10 largest airports for emissions, airline operations from London - Luton Airport had the lowest emissions per ASK
  • TUI Airways had the lowest emissions per ASK out of the 10 largest airlines for emissions over the last 12 months
