This month we look at Turkey as our focus country and global passenger-related aviation emissions for January to December 2025.

Highlights from this month’s report include:

  • Global passenger-related aviation emissions in December 2025 were 69m tonnes
  • Looking at the 25 largest markets in December 2025, Turkey saw the largest % increase in emissions at +33% when compared to December 2019 levels, whereas Hong Kong saw the largest % reduction in emissions at -18%
  • Overall global passenger-related aviation emissions January to December 2025 were 819m tonnes, 3m tonnes below January to December 2019 levels

Spotlight on Turkey

  • Passenger-related emissions from airports in Turkey were 1.3m tonnes in December 2025, +7% above 2024 levels
  • Turkey ranked 13th largest country for emissions in December 2025 and 12th largest for January to December 2025
  • Out of the 10 largest airports for emissions, airline operations from Dalaman Airport had the lowest emissions per ASK
  • Jet2 had the lowest emissions per ASK out of the 10 largest airlines for emissions over the last 12 months
