Highlights from this month’s report include:
- Global passenger-related emissions in August 2025 were 75m tonnes
- In August 2025 42% of passenger-related aviation emissions were covered by a compliance programme such as CORSIA, EU-ETS
- Overall global aviation emissions January to August 2025 were 547m tonnes, 3m tonnes below January to August 2019 levels
Spotlight on Iceland
- Passenger-related emissions from airports in Iceland were 0.10m tonnes in August 2025, -2% below 2019 levels
- Iceland ranked 67th largest country for emissions in August 2025
- Wizz Air and Play had the lowest emissions per ASK out of the 10 largest airlines for emissions operating from Iceland over the last 12 months
- Whilst airline operations from Reykjavik - Keflavik International Airport were the largest source of aviation emissions, they had the lowest emissions per ASK
