Highlights from this month’s report include:
- Global passenger-related emission for the first month of 2024 were 62m tonnes, up c13% on 2023
- All of the 25 largest markets for emissions were up compared to January 2023
Spotlight on France – the 12th largest source of passenger related aviation emissions January 2024.
- Passenger-related emissions from airports in France were 1.25m tonnes up 4% on 2023, but down 16% compared to pre-pandemic levels
- 63% of emissions from French airports are captured under a trading scheme
- In the last 12 months Air France has emitted 6.3m tonnes of CO2
- Domestic emissions within France total 1.4m tonnes in the last 12 months despite a ban on some domestic flights coming into effect in May 2023
